Two years ago Alan wrote Kevin an email, asking if he wanted to ride from Kevin's house in Seattle to Alan's in San Diego. Kevin agreed. Last year, we did it!

We said goodbye to Meagan and George after a delicious breakfast at the Santa Cruz Diner. On our way into the mess of Monterey (the Concours de Elegance car show was going on), we met Greg Flowers - a handbike cyclist with a cool German imported cycle. Greg showed us the way through some tricky bike paths and into the heart of the action at the wharf. From there, Kevin took over the navigation and skillfully charted our course out of town - this helped another cyclist we had met on the way in - Hans from Germany. Hans was thankful and bought Kevin and me a soft drink in Carmel Highlands. The ride into Big Sur was lovely but a bit stressful because of the narrow road, and I got ahead of Kevin, who flatted in the last mile or so. Our support team of Janet and Jo scored us a fine campsite in Pfeiffer Big Sur campground, and we had an exceptionally fine dinner at the Big Sur Roadhouse.
